It's mid-April in New Orleans, and we've been enjoying some of the most beautiful weather of the year. It's also the beginning of wedding season here, the time between what passes for winter, and the onset of the sweltering heat and humidity of summer.
Our couples who scheduled for this week were treated to perfect conditions - albeit a bit windy - for their weddings. They ran the gamut from just the eloping couple in the park, to a large event by the pool at a private residence. Most of them were couples from out-of-state who took advantage of having their ceremony during French Quarter Festival, "The Largest Free Music Festival in The South" as it's known. They weren't disappointed! The combination of delicious food, great music and wonderful weather added up to a dream honeymoon for the lucky couples.
In case you didn't know it, if you are from out-of-state, and the wedding takes place in Orleans Parish, I, as your officiant can waive the 72 hour waiting period. In other words, you can come to New Orleans, get your marriage license and get married the same day! This makes New Orleans the perfect choice for destination weddings, where the couple want to share their love of the city with their guests, and elopers who are looking for a romantic getaway.
The upcoming week offers us locals a chance to catch ours breaths before it's time for the biggie - Jazz Fest. Two weekends and seven days of more music and food! Hey, it's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it! And Jazz Fest weddings - some off and some on the Fairgrounds. Let's all hope the weather is as wonderful as it was this week;o)
If you have a wedding in your future, consider coming to the Crescent City during one of our world famous festivals, and soak up the ambiance and enjoy the amenities only New Orleans has to offer.
